Fieldhand is a farm-management app operated by Oikos United LLC (“Oikos United,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), based in Virginia, United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information Fieldhand collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
Fieldhand is local-first: your farm records are created and stored on your device, and the app works offline. You can optionally create an account to back up and sync your data across devices. Much of what follows applies only if you choose to create an account or use a specific feature — we say so in each section.
Subscribers to Fieldhand Pro can also use Fieldhand Desk, our companion web application. The Desk signs in to the same account and works with the same information described in this policy.
When you use Fieldhand you create records about your operation. If you use an account, these are synced to our servers so you can access them on your other devices:
Fieldhand uses location only when you ask it to, and only while the app is open:
Fieldhand Desk includes optional AI features that turn the notes and figures you enter into structured records (for example, converting a free-text description of a purchase or field application into cost and allocation entries). If, and only if, you use one of these features, the specific information you submit for that request — the free-text you write, plus the related field, inventory-lot, and price figures needed to structure it — is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic (the maker of Claude), which returns suggested entries for you to review. This happens only on your explicit request, and only on the data you submit for that request; the AI does not run in the background and does not process your data on its own. We do not send your email, password, sign-in tokens, precise location, or subscription/payment data to the AI provider. See Section 3 for how Anthropic handles this data.
Fieldhand offers an optional paid subscription (“Fieldhand Pro”). Purchases are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we never receive your payment card or billing details. To manage subscriptions we use a service called RevenueCat. We share your account’s unique identifier with RevenueCat so your subscription can be linked to your account, and RevenueCat sends us subscription status events (for example: purchased, renewed, expired, cancelled). We store these events so we know whether your account has Pro access.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with the service providers that make Fieldhand work, and only as needed:
| Provider | Purpose | What it handles |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database hosting for account sync | Your account and synced farm/field/financial records |
| Render | Backend/server hosting | Processes sync and account requests |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management | Your account identifier and subscription status |
| Mapbox | Maps and address search | Map-area coordinates and any address text you search |
| Anthropic | AI-assisted entry on Fieldhand Desk (only on your request) | The farm notes you write plus the related field, inventory-lot, and price figures you submit to an AI feature |
| Apple / Google | Subscription payment processing | Your purchase (handled entirely by the app store) |
When you view a map or search an address, the request (including the map area or the text you type) is sent to Mapbox to return the map tiles or search results. Mapbox processes that information under its own privacy terms.
About the AI provider (Anthropic). Anthropic processes the data you submit to an AI feature only to return the structured entries you asked for. Anthropic does not use data submitted through its commercial API to train its models, and retains it only for a limited period to operate the service and guard against misuse — it is not kept as an ongoing record of your farm. Anthropic acts as our service provider (sub-processor) and may not use your data for its own purposes.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or sale), in which case we will require the recipient to honor this policy.
The farm, field, and financial records you enter are your data. We use them only to provide Fieldhand to you. You can view and edit your data in the app at any time, delete individual records, or delete your entire account (see below). If you would like a copy of your account data, contact us at the address below and we will provide it.
We protect your information with measures including: bcrypt password hashing (we never store plaintext passwords); storage of sign-in tokens in your device’s secure keychain and in hashed form on our servers; and encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to hold it only as long as needed.
Fieldhand is a business tool for farm operations and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise the core of these rights directly in the app (edit or delete your records, or delete your account), or contact us and we will help. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
California residents: we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. You have the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information as described above.
Where data is processed: Fieldhand is operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at this URL. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by other reasonable means.
