Fieldhand — Privacy Policy

Fieldhand is a farm-management app operated by Oikos United LLC (“Oikos United,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), based in Virginia, United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information Fieldhand collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

Fieldhand is local-first: your farm records are created and stored on your device, and the app works offline. You can optionally create an account to back up and sync your data across devices. Much of what follows applies only if you choose to create an account or use a specific feature — we say so in each section.

1. Information we collect

Account information (only if you create an account)

Email address — used to identify your account and sign you in.
Password — we never store your password in readable form. It is stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash (bcrypt).
Farm name — optional, if you choose to provide it.
Sign-in tokens — created to keep you signed in. The renewal token is stored in hashed form on our servers and in your device’s secure keychain on your device.

Farm and field data you enter

When you use Fieldhand you create records about your operation. If you use an account, these are synced to our servers so you can access them on your other devices:

Farm details — name, U.S. state, county, and season start/end months.
Field details — field name, acreage, field boundary geometry (map shape), whether the boundary was estimated or GPS-mapped, and optional lease information (lessor name, rate per acre, renewal date) and notes.
Animal movement records — animal type, head count, origin/destination field, date, and notes.
Financial records — the costs and revenues you enter (category, amount, date, quantity/unit, and notes). Fieldhand uses these to calculate profit-and-loss figures for your fields. This calculation happens on your device.

Location data

Fieldhand uses location only when you ask it to, and only while the app is open:

To center the map on your land, and
To map a field boundary when you choose to walk or drive its edge (“GPS mode”). In that mode we record the path you trace as precise location points and turn it into a field boundary and acreage estimate.

Your precise location is used only to draw field boundaries and center the map. Fieldhand does not track your location in the background, does not use location for advertising, and does not share your location for tracking. If you prefer not to grant location access, you can still add fields by dropping pins on the map or typing acreage directly.

Subscription information

Fieldhand offers an optional paid subscription (“Fieldhand Pro”). Purchases are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we never receive your payment card or billing details. To manage subscriptions we use a service called RevenueCat. We share your account’s unique identifier with RevenueCat so your subscription can be linked to your account, and RevenueCat sends us subscription status events (for example: purchased, renewed, expired, cancelled). We store these events so we know whether your account has Pro access.

Information we do not collect

No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs (as of the effective date above).
No phone number, mailing address, or contacts.
No payment card information.

2. How we use your information

To provide the app and its features, including calculating your field profit-and-loss.
To back up and sync your data across your devices when you use an account.
To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
To determine whether your account has an active Fieldhand Pro subscription.
To respond to your support requests.
To operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the service, and to comply with law.

3. How your information is shared

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with the service providers that make Fieldhand work, and only as needed:

When you view a map or search an address, the request (including the map area or the text you type) is sent to Mapbox to return the map tiles or search results. Mapbox processes that information under its own privacy terms.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or sale), in which case we will require the recipient to honor this policy.

4. Your data belongs to you

The farm, field, and financial records you enter are your data. We use them only to provide Fieldhand to you. You can view and edit your data in the app at any time, delete individual records, or delete your entire account (see below). If you would like a copy of your account data, contact us at the address below and we will provide it.

5. Data retention and deletion

On your device: your records stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
On our servers (accounts only): your synced data is retained until you delete your account.
Deleting your account: you can permanently delete your account from within the app (Settings → delete account, with a typed confirmation). When you do, we permanently delete your account and hard-delete your synced farms, fields, animal movements, costs, revenues, and sign-in tokens from our servers, and the app wipes the local copy on your device. This cannot be undone.
One exception: for financial recordkeeping and fraud prevention, we keep a limited record of subscription transactions (the subscription-status events described in Section 1) after account deletion. These records are tied to your former account identifier and are no longer connected to your farm data.

6. Security

We protect your information with measures including: bcrypt password hashing (we never store plaintext passwords); storage of sign-in tokens in your device’s secure keychain and in hashed form on our servers; and encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to hold it only as long as needed.

7. Children’s privacy

Fieldhand is a business tool for farm operations and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise the core of these rights directly in the app (edit or delete your records, or delete your account), or contact us and we will help. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

California residents: we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. You have the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information as described above.

Where data is processed: Fieldhand is operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at this URL. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by other reasonable means.
